The Coach House

The assignment was to transform an existing coach house into a multifunctional space. Combining a home office, sanitary facilities and a relaxed family area. While respecting the original character of the building.

The former coach house was carefully reconfigured to accommodate a refined workspace alongside a  integrated toilet. At the rear, a relaxed lounge area for the children was created, opening directly onto the garden through large French doors. This connection allows the space to shift effortlessly between work, family life and leisure.

Extending the living experience outdoors, a generous covered terrace was added on the exterior. Designed as a natural continuation of the coach house, it features an outdoor kitchen with an African braai. A place intended for long, unhurried evenings with family and friends.

Throughout the project, the balance between functionality and atmosphere was key. By working with natural materials, thoughtful detailing and a calm spatial rhythm, the coach house evolved into a versatile environment. Grounded in its history, yet fully attuned to contemporary living.
