Canal house
The existing marble floor was outdated and worn, so we designed a bespoke checkerboard floor in Carrara marble and Bardiglio marble, inspired by traditional manor houses and classic English country homes. This instantly restored depth, character and an authentic sense of heritage within the space.
The souterrain now features a beautifully handcrafted kitchen, a welcoming hall with custom wardrobe cabinetry, and a serene bedroom each space tailored to the client’s lifestyle and daily routines. Soft English influences, elegant moulding details and warm materials come together to create a cohesive and intimate atmosphere. The fully bespoke kitchen includes a dedicated service cabinet for glassware and generous storage, ensuring both charm and practicality.
As the client was moving from a larger family home into this long-owned property, a significant part of the brief was minimising belongings and maximising smart, functional storage. We added tailored cabinetry throughout the souterrain to ensure that everything has its place, without compromising the flow or character of the home.
Before the move, every room received a thoughtful upgrade from painting to bathroom refinements to new interior additions elevating the entire residence into a warmer, more cohesive and welcoming home.
Grateful and devoted homeowners now enjoy this renewed space with their children and grandchildren a home designed for gathering, cooking, unwinding and sharing precious moments together.
A refined redesign of this historic canal house, with a bespoke English-inspired kitchen, a custom wardrobe hall and a serene bedroom on the lower level complemented by thoughtful updates throughout the first floor to create a warm, cohesive and timeless home.
